Android Q Beta 1- Top 10 new features

Android Q Beta 1 – Top 10 new features- It’s March, which means it’s officially new Android Beta season and right on time, Google has released its’s developer preview of Android Q. So today we are going to talk about the Android Q Beta 1 – Top 10 new features.

This is a version of android that you can flash right now. It is important to know though that you should only download this if you know what you are doing or have a spare Pixel device lying around.

The Q beta will work across all Google Pixel phones. Please download and flash it at your own risk.

Q beta looks a lot like the current version of Android Pie (Android 9.0) with a few tiny visual changes.

So, let’s have a look at the “Android Q Beta 1 – Top 10 new features”

Dark Mode

Finally, the Dark mode is here on the device. There is no real way to toggle it. So, you can turn on the battery saver mode to enable the dark mode. If you want to switch back, turn off the battery saver mode.

Undo Removed Icons

If you are removing any icon from the Home screen, now you get an option to undo that.

Share Wi-Fi by scanning QR Code

If you want to share your Wi-Fi with your neighbour, you can allow them to scan the Wi-Fi QR code and connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Detailed Battery life in notification Panel

You can see the remaining battery percentage in the notification bar. But if you scroll down, in the notification panel it will show you how long the battery is going to last.

Location and Privacy menu is changed

Locations and privacy are no broken into it’s own settings menu items. The permission menu is completely changed. Now it will give you three different options-

  • Allow all the time
  • Allow only while the app is in use
  • Deny

Theming options

Very minor theming options are present. At the bottom, in the developer options, you can change the Accent colour to

  • Black
  • Green and
  • Purple

You can change the font as well. You can also change the icon shapes. Here you have multiple options such as-

  • Teardrop Icon
  • Squircle
  • Rounded rectangle and
  • Default

Screen short with Notch

You can capture the screen short with notch. If you don’t want the Notch in the screen short, turn off the notch and recapture the screen short.

Screen Recorder

In built Screen Recorder is introduced in the Android Q.  You can enable it by going to

Developer Option >> Feature Flags >> Setting_screenrecorder_long_press

File manager

New File manager app is present in Android Q. I am not sure what is the new here because everything looks old as in Android Pie.

AI Battery

The battery can now turn on automatically depending on how you use the phone. For that, go to the Battery Saver >> Sat a schedule >> Based on your routine.
