What Does Resetting Network Settings Do, and Should I Do It?

If you have given ta try to check the internet connection on the router or modem, updating PC drivers, rebooting the system, and still your network issue is not fixed, the do the full network reset.

  • Resetting the network on your windows will uninstall and remove all your Wifi, LAN, or any other if present adapters to their original settings.
  • After reset, the adapter will automatically detect the changes in your network.

  • Go to the search box and search for Settings.
  • Look for the Network & Internet option on the left sidebar and click on it.
  • Now go to Advanced network settings on the right side.
  • In the advanced network settings, click on the Network reset option under More settings.
  • Now hit on the Reset now button.
  • There will be a popup saying, Are you sure you want to reset your network settings?; hit Yes.
  • A few minutes later, Windows 11 PC will reboot and all the network adapter settings will be restored to their original settings.

  • To reset the network setting on Windows 10, follow the following steps-
  • Go to the search box and search for Settings.
  • Look for the Network & Internet option on the left sidebar and click on it.
  • Click Status on the left sidebar
  • Now on the right side under status, scroll at the bottom and click on Network rest.
  • Now hit on the Reset now button.
  • There will be a popup saying, Are you sure you want to reset your network settings?; hit Yes.
  • A few minutes later, Windows 10 PC will reboot and all the network adapter settings will be restored to their original settings.

How to Automatically Connect to the Internet After a Reset

The TCP/IP settings on the computer typically detect the network settings automatically. It reconnects to all the available networks. In the case of wifi, it asks for the wifi password for the first time after the network reset. If the ethernet is not detected automatically, change the DHCP option to automatic.
